Miley Cyrus to Anchor Supernatural Thriller?

The movie offers continue to come in for Miley Cyrus.

First, her mother reportedly optioned the rights for a music video to be made into a feature-length film.

Now, the screenwriter behind Disturbia and Paranormal Activity 2 has said in a new interview that he hopes to work with Cyrus on "Wake," a big screen version of Lisa McMann's book series.

"It's sort of a vehicle for Miley Cyrus," Landon says. "She is looking to sort of get out of her cutesy Hannah Montana image... She wanted to do something a little edgier and a little darker, so we're making this movie hopefully... It's about a teenage girl who has a rare form of narcalepsy. When she's within a certain distance of someone sleeping, she passes out and goes into their dreams."

Landon says there's "definitely a spooky element to it."

Cyrus has made it clear she hopes to be taken seriously as a movie actress. She just finished filming LOL with Demi Moore and Ashley Greene.

Miley Cyrus celebrated her 18th birthday a couple days early last night.

How Did Miley Cyrus' Success Lead to Divorce?

Miley Cyrus is a global sensation. She's a multi-millionaire, beloved by fans around the world and staring at a future full of record-selling albums and hit movies.

Such success has made parents Billy Ray and Tish very proud... but it's also made them grow apart, eventually leading to last month's divorce announcement, a family friend says.

"Both parents have been equally involved in making their daughter a superstar," asource tells Pop Eater "And now that they have achieved their goal, they have nothing to work towards anymore and nothing to keep them together."

The insider says Billy Ray and Tish forgot about their romance over the years, as they focused entirely on Miley's next album or television appearance.

"Tthey have forgotten to make time for each other," a music executive added. "It's heartbreaking. You would think that someone like Miley has everything in the world, but I guarantee she would give it all up in a second if it kept her family together. I'm sure when she blows out her birthday candles in a few weeks her wish will be for mom and dad, not her career."

It's true. Miley turns 18 on November 23 and has already said she would love to "take a vacation with my family" in honor of the occasion.

"[My family and I] need time to all be together," she told Us Weekly over the weekend. Let's hope they get it.

Miley Cyrus, Mother Raise Cancer Awareness

It pains us when we can't mock Miley Cyrus.

Fortunately, the singer gave us (and the Parents' Television Council) plenty to go on about in her new music video.

But mother Tish Cyrus recently spoke to USA Today about how she and her daughter got involved with City of Hope's "All In Week" last week to raise cancer awareness among mothers and young women. We can only give them props for that action.

"It's scary when you have girls, and you hear how many women of all ages, including the young, are affected by cancer every year," said Tish, who lost her father and grandmother to the disease.

Elsewhere in the article, Miley's mom talked about her and her family's involvement in this important cause. Excerpts from the interview follow:

On City of Hope: Children's cancer was something that Miley was really passionate about. It's so devastating to see how many people are affected by cancer every year. One of the first things Miley did with City of Hope was to team up with Disney on The Concert for Hope at the Gibson Amphitheatre with the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato. For each ticket sold, $1 was given to City of Hope. I believe she raised over $1 million.

On settling an example: Miley has always believed that if we all do something small, you can make a huge difference. When visiting a children's hospital at home in Tennessee or being involved with City of Hope, it's about getting out to spread that message. Also, teens can make a difference by setting an example for young kids. That's been the case with our youngest, Noah, who's 10. She looks up to Brandi and Miley and the work they do. She's planning to go to Haiti for a mission trip.

On who inspires Miley: Her dad. In the early '90s when he was touring, we'd do 290 shows in 350 days, and I never remember one when he didn't spend time with special-needs kids, meeting them after the show. He'd also give all the gifts he'd been given at each show to local children's hospitals, even if he had to drop them off at midnight. Miley was just a little girl then, but those things she remembers.

Parents Television Council Slams Miley Cyrus for "Sexualized Video," Sending Bad Message

Turns out, THG isn't the only one to have a major problem with Miley Cyrus.

Following the release of the singer's video for "Who Owns My Heart," which includes the 17-year writhing around in bed, blindfolded, the Parents Television Council has released the following statement:

It is unfortunate that she would participate in such a sexualized video like this one. It sends messages to her fan base that are diametrically opposed to everything she has done up to this point. Miley built her fame and fortune entirely on the backs of young girls, and it saddens us that she seems so eager to distance herself from that fan base so rapidly.

Brandi Cyrus on Liam Hemsworth: Nice Fella!

Despite dressing like she's trying to pick up every guy in a club, Miley Cyrus is back with Liam Hemsworth.

And there's at least one person close to the young singer/actress who is psyched about this reconciliation: older sister Brandi.

We feel dirty even writing about this rumor.

But the latest issue of Star magazine forces us to do so, as it claims Miley Cyrus is looking to change up her image even more.

Already strutting around on stage in skimpy outfits and pretending to make out with back-up dancers, "Miley is intent on getting a boob job," the tabloid reports. "She's insisting her parents sign the consent forms, which is required since she is still 17."

The publication's sources say Cyrus wants a bust size equal to that of Holly Madison, who walks around with 36Ds falling out of her shirt.

A year ago, we'd have dismissed this report as pure nonsense. But Miley has since made it very clear that she's intent on ditching her wholesome, Disney image.

Miley Cyrus: I Want to Be a Role Model

For Miley Cyrus, it's the end of an era.

No, we aren't referring to the time in her life when she wore pants and didn't look ridiculous each time she took the stage.

Instead, we're paraphrasing the singer herself in a recent interview with The Montreal Gazette. Cyrus spoke to the newspaper and explained her decision to end Hannah Montana after this season:

"You don't want it to grow up too much, where the younger audience feel they can't watch the show anymore. But also, [don't] go backwards and make it so young that you lose the older fans that you have. It's just kind of come to a point where there's not much more we could do with [the show]."

Miley is focusing on her career as an adult actress, a transformation she understands isn't easy to take for many fans.

"I want to be a role model and have people look up to me, but this also doesn't mean that I am not going to live the way that I want to live," she said. "I'm going to grow up at some point, and I've been always honest about that."

Just so you know, Miles, wearing skimpy clothing on stage and pretending to make out with female dancers is NOT the sign of a grown-up. These are the actions of an immature child desperate for attention.

Taylor Momsen on Miley Cyrus Comparisons: Shut the Eff Up!

Miley Cyrus may be a colossal disappointment for a variety of reasons, but at least she doesn't curse, smoke or look like a raccoon at all times.

The same can't be said for Gossip Girl cast member Taylor Momsen.

Speaking to FHM UK this week, the 16-year old lashed out at critics that compare her to Miley, making it very clear that she doesn't see any similarities between the pair.

"I'm not looking to be Miley f*cking Cyrus," Momsen said. "I don't care about the fame. I do it because I love music. I like making records and if people like them, then we'll go along for the ride."

Momsen and Cyrus may both act and sing, but that's pretty much where the comparisons end. The former fronts rock band The Pretty Reckless, while the latter is nothing more than a Britney Spears wannabe at this point.

Still, Taylor feels a need to distance herself from Miley, adding: "I think the Disney bubblegum shit that the world is living right now is pathetic. I thought we passed that repression."

It's unclear what that actually means, but Gossip Girl fans have made their opinion of Momsen and her character well-known: Jenny Humphrey has been written out of most of next season on the show.

Album Sales Plummet for Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus has been tamed again.

After an incredibly disappointing opening week of sales for "Can't Be Tamed," fans of this young singer said to wait. It's just been a few days, they cried! Give the album time!

A week later, though, the compilation is barely holding a place in the Billboard 200's top 10. With Eminem's "Recovery" still holding strong at number-one (with 313,000 copies sold), Miley's CD fell six places to number-nine, selling just 32,000 copies.

That's an astounding 68% drop-off from last week.

By comparison, Miley's 2008 "Breakout" sold 1.5 million copies and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. There's very little chance "Can't Be Tamed" will achieve half that level of success.

Does this mean Miley has lost a significant amount of her fan base? There's no other way to see it. Numbers speak for themselves.

Perhaps she should go to college, after all. They have marketing classes there.

Kellie Martin to Miley Cyrus: Go to College!

For weeks, THG has been offering Miley Cyrus advice: put on pants, cut out the desperate antics, focus on country music - and shut up.

But what do we know about it? We're simply a (very attractive) celebrity gossip blog. We can't relate to the life of a teenage celebrity.

Kellie Martin can, however. The actress rose to fame on the sitcom Life Goes On and has remained grounded, most recently recurring on ER as the character of Lucy Knight and guest-starring on episodes of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice.

Asked by Fancast.com if she had any advice for Miley, Martin replied:

"Go to college. I really think that saved me. Fred [Savage] went to Stanford, Mayim [Bialik] went to UCLA, I went to Yale... It’s really, really important to get an education because when all of this is gone, then at least you have your education."

Martin appears to be a fan of Miley's, adding: "She’s wildly talented, little Miley Cyrus, and she has a sweet family. If she went to college, she’d be totally set. She’d be set forever.”

It's true that none of the childhood stars cited above have been arrested, gone bankrupt or had compromising photos of themselves released online.

Wouldn't it be great if Cyrus followed the advice? It's just a shame no one offered it to Lindsay Lohan.

Katy Perry Compares Miley Cyrus to Britney Spears

Last month, Miley Cyrus compared herself to Britney Spears.

Now, Katy Perry has gone ahead and done the same thing - but with a very different meaning behind it.

According to Life & Style, Perry caught a glimpse of Miley's outfits at the 2010 MuchMusic Awards and said to a friend:

"Oh my God, poor girl... She's Britney Spears all over again. It's happening right before our eyes... she's definitely headed the Britney route. It's worse. Look at those outfits. It's bad."

We've been saying the same thing for weeks, of course... but we don't go around posing for Esquire like this. Makes it a bit tough for Perry to present her case, doesn't it?

Miley Cyrus Previews Final Season of Hannah Montana

Between the lack of pants and abudance of simulated same-sex kissing, it's easy to forget that Miley Cyrus still portrays Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel.

That series kicks off its final season on Sunday night and Miley previewed it a press conference this week.

"[It's about] her graduating, and seeing what college is all about and seeing whether she wants to pursue her career or go to school and try to live a normal life," Cyrus told reporters. "I can't believe it's already coming to an end, either. I mean, it just feels like we kind of just started."

Will Miley's musical makeover negatively affect her TV show's viewership?

Looking back on the series, Miley credits herself for starting a trend.

"It kind of has opened so many doors for other artists on Disney, too, to be able to involve music and acting and all that. I definitely didn't expect it to take off the way that it did, especially so soon."

But we can't help but wonder: will Miley's transformation into an adult artist hurtHannah Montana? Will she lose viewers, as her latest album clearly lost fans. Cyrus says she can't worry about that:

"I can't only base my career off of the 6-year-olds. It's the 16-year-olds, the 26-year-olds, that's I'm trying to reach for now. That's not letting the younger kids down. I will continue to do things that will be good for them, too. But, I also have to move on."

That's fine and all, but can't she find a less desperate, more creative way of doing that?

Miley Cyrus Performances: On The Late Show, With Bret Michaels

While Perez Hilton is basking in the spotlight and milking his Miley Cyrus photo controversy for all its worth, the 17-year old singer at the center of this scandal is acting like the mature one.

Instead of harping on that situation, Miley is focusing on her music: she appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman last night, joked with the host about Twitter and then performed "Can't Be Tamed." Most amazingly, she did it while wearing pants!

Ah, there's the pompous Miley Cyrus we know and love... to mock: sounding all high and mighty about her music when, in reality, she's just another recycled pop singer that wears skimpy clothing to prove how "edgy" she is.

Miley Cyrus Reacts to "Idiot" Perez Hilton, Sports New Ear Tattoo

We disagree with Miley Cyrus when it comes to her wardrobe choices, musical abilities, the message she sends to fans and her overall lack of originality.

But at least we see eye-to-eye with the singer on one thing: Perez Hilton is an idiot.

A couple days after that gossip blogger stunned the world by posting an upskirt photo of this 17-year old, Miley has responded. She told Ryan Seacrest in a phone interview yesterday:

"That's some idiot being an idiot. Isn't it funny things like that, that are so negative, have to come out right before my record? It's like, no one can just let a positive thing happen."

Man, even when we're on Miley's side, we can't help but comment on how pompous she sounds. A "positive thing?" It's just a new CD, Miles. You're not changing the world here.
