On making a name in fashion, LC says that “I’ve sacrificed and worked very hard to get where I am now. I’ve been working every single day since I was 17."

"I’m also faced with a different set of challenges. I go to meetings, and people have this preconceived notion of me that I didn’t work hard to get where I am.”

As for her former co-stars' paths' such as Heidi Montag’s plastic surgery and Jason Wahler joining Celebrity Rehab: “They’ve moved on to a different life now."

"Being on a show like that is a lot more than people think. You’re thrust into the spotlight. There’s all this pressure to act a certain way. It’s hard to adjust."

On her new reality show: “It’s going to be very different. I’m doing it on my own terms now. I get final editing approval. That was the only way I agreed."

The former star of The Hills, and future star of a new reality show, was all smiles as she proudly pulled double book promotion duty at an NYC Barnes & Noble Tuesday.

Heidi Montag to Lauren Conrad: I Miss You!

Heidi Montag wants to get in touch with her inner nature girl again. She also longs for her old BFF back, and nostalgically watches repeats of The Hills.

The plastic princess, who was inexplicably booted off the show in its final season and recently filed for divorce from Spencer Pratt, is lost these days.

Her family and what few friends she has left can't get in touch with her, and she's been oddly absent from her beloved celebrity sites' photo galleries.

What's she been up to?

"Watching old Hills [episodes]," the 'Tag Tweeted at two of her former MTV co-stars. "I miss you @AudrinaPatridge and most of all @laurenconrad."

Neither Audrina Patridge nor Lauren Conrad responded to the Tweets.

LC & HEIDI: Many moons and plastic surgeries ago.

Former roommates and best friends, Heidi Montag and Conrad's relationship famously cooled thanks to controlling boyfriend-turned husband Pratt.

LC accused the gruesome twosome of leaking a rumor about a sex tape starring herself and Jason Wahler. When Heidi Montag attempted to mend fences with her, Conrad brushed her off, quipping, "I want to forgive you - and forget you."

Might they rekindle their friendship now that he's out of the picture? We wouldn't count on it, but separating from King Spencer can only help the cause.

Citing irreconcilable differences, Montag filed for divorce from the mountain man in Santa Monica, Calif. Spencer Pratt didn't seem too sad, saying:

"Well, some say if you can't handle the heat get out of the kitchen. Heidi couldn't handle King Spencer's fame so she got out of the marriage."

Lauren Conrad to Pen "Darker" Novel Series

Lauren Conrad is going rogue.

The L.A. Candy author says that for her next work of literary mastery, she's planning a darker spinoff of sorts featuring one of her current characters.

"I'm going to take Madison from the book and do a darker series," she said at The Hills finale party. "I already wrote a little bit and it was really fun."

L.A. Candy focuses on Jane Roberts, a young woman who moves to Hollywood, gets a job with an event planner and eventually lands a reality show.

That all sounds vaguely familiar ...

For Lauren Conrad, L.A. Candy is art imitating life. Or The Hills.

Like LC, Jane isn't always happy with her fame and the attention it brings, while her friend Madison takes the opposite approach and just eats it up.

Again, feels like we've heard this somewhere.

"I think it would be really fun to do it the other way, with someone who loves it," Conrad said. "Someone who loves fame and plays the game well."

She certainly has enough real-life material to draw on.

Lauren is still working on the third book in the Candy series, but we're already looking forward to reading the exploits of crazy Heidi Montag ... er, Madison.

Lauren Conrad to Appear on The Hills Reunion

Lauren Conrad is finally returning to The Hills ... right after it ends.

One week from tonight, the girl who made the MTV reality show a hit will be on hand for the Live Reunion Show after the now-sagging series mercifully goes off the air.

The reunion will immediately follow the series finale of The Hills and the season finale of The City. Whitney Port reported the LC news, as well as her own attendance:

"I am so happy to tell you all that I will be attending the reunion, as will Lauren!" Whitney wrote on her official site. "I am so excited to see everyone and catch up."

"I am so excited to see what's next for them," the former Hills star and current City leading lady continued. "It's been so long since we have all been together."

REUNITED: For one night and one night only, next Tuesday.

What remains unclear is whether Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, exiled from the show in recent weeks without notice, will appear between now and July 13.

The gruesome twosome was featured prominently in the first part of this season, but then Spencer went haywire, they supposedly broke up in real life, etc.

It's not clear why, but there has been no explanation of their vanishing from the series. Tonight, the penultimate episode of The Hills airs, followed by The City.

The former will likely focus on Kristin and Audrina's predictably boring romantic drama. Sigh. We can only hope Speidi returns to liven things up one last time.

Body By Milk has been doing its iconic "Got Milk?" mustache campaign for what seems like decades. Miley Cyrus may or may not wear underwear, but she definitely wore the milk mustache recently, as have stars such as Usher and Taylor Swift.

The latest to receive the 'stache is Lauren Conrad, former star of Laguna Beach and The Hills. We've really missed her on the latter, especially lately.

All the more reason we were happy to see her wearing a belted navy blue dress and her signature curled hair - glass of milk in hand of course:

Lauren Conrad Previews Kohl's Fashion Line

Where does Lauren Conrad turn when she needs a wardrobe update?

To the fashion collection she herself designed for Kohl’s, of course.

“I think if you’re not willing to wear your own clothes, you’re doing something wrong," she says. "This line was meant to be about my style, pieces I want to walk in the store and buy. If you’re not wearing your own line, you’re taking the fun out of it!”

Known for her flirty frocks and California cool girl style, Lauren tells Glamour her staple piece is the blazer. “We have one in every collection, and we usually tweak it a little bit. In this specific collection, I also really love the biker jacket we did.”

Come spring, the former star of The Hills says she’ll be pairing her sharp toppers with lots of watercolor prints: “I think they’re very romantic and kind of timeless."

"I almost did too much of it with this collection," she says. "When we were shopping for prints with Kohl’s, everything I picked was watercolor and floral."

"They’re very in because of the whole Alice in Wonderland thing.”

However one fashion fad the style author won’t be trying this season is hot pants: “You can’t wear them to the club, because you’re going to look like one of the dancers, but they could look cute on the beach!” says LC.

A Moment in Literary History with Lauren Conrad

Last summer Lauren Conrad walked away from The Hills.

But the drama continues in Sweet Little Lies, the best-selling author's follow-up to the critically and commercially acclaimed (well, at least the latter) L.A. Candy.

While visiting The Tyra Show, the reality star opened a page in her second young-adult novel and began to read. It was a watershed moment in literary history.

"'Jessie, give me your keys. You can't drive right now. You're too drunk,' she said firmly," Lauren Conrad read. Banks then took a terrified turn at reading herself.

LC's book just reached the top of the New York Times Best-Seller List again in the Children's Chapter Books category after being on shelves less than a month.

Not a bad post-Hills career. As for her former reality rival, well, we've seen Heidi Montag nude in Playboy and getting plastic surgery a lot. To each her own.

Lauren Conrad: Seventeen Cover Girl

The lovely Lauren Conrad, former reality star and current designer and author, is featured in next month’s issue of Seventeen. Needless to say, she looks terrific.

As LC said on Good Morning America this week, when asked about Heidi Montag and her recent plastic surgery, she won't be going under the knife anytime soon.

She's a natural beauty and a good role model for teens in that respect. Below are some excerpts from LC's interview with Seventeen, along with a bunch of pics:

On getting cut off: "Seventeen was a happy time for me, but 18 was hard. At 18 I was cut off financially! People think I've had it easy, but I haven't as much as you think ... When I went to college, I wasn't going to class in Louis Vuitton."

"There were times when my bank account was zero. I was financially independent, but I wasn't exactly living a lavish life. My dad was really adamant about that. He would say 'You're going to go to college and live it like everyone else.'"

On self-confidence: "There's always someone telling you your nose is too big or too small, or you're too fat or too thin. There's always going to be someone who doesn't approve of something about you. You're the only person you need to please."

On cheating: "I never really understood cheating because I've never cheated on anyone. I feel like if you are in a relationship with someone, and you want to be with other people, then you shouldn't be in a relationship - it's that simple!"

On her books' protagonist: "Jane is the main character [of Sweet Little Lies] and most like me. But also when I was more sarcastic and against [being on] the The Hills, I was able to illustrate that through Scarlett, her best friend."

On The Hills: "You set out to do a show based on your life, but you end up living a life based on your show. Everything you do has to be cleared - where you work, everyone who comes to your birthday, people you date, what clothes you wear."

"I actually had to get the paint color for my apartment approved by the director of photography. It was things like that that I really don't miss."

Lauren Conrad on Heidi Montag: It's a Look ...

Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag will always be linked by The Hills.

Even a full season after LC retired from the show she made famous, and years after she and Heidi stopped being close, she's still asked about her.

LC was reluctant to comment on the recent Heidi Montag plastic surgery debacle this morning on Good Morning America, but did so diplomatically.

Asked what her reaction was after seeing Heidi's new appearance, which some liken to that of a circus freak, Conrad paused and said, "It's a look."

That it is. And that's as nicely as one can put it. Well done, LC!

Lauren Conrad won't criticize her former BFF, but says surgery isn't for her.

Conrad, who just celebrated her 24th birthday Monday, said despite the pressures on young women in Hollywood, she won't be going under the knife.

Asked if she'd had or considered plastic surgery, the best-selling author and fashion designer laughed and said "not so far, no... it's a personal choice."

"Everybody's different. Everybody needs to do what's good for them."

Lauren Conrad left The Hills after five seasons and is now focusing on her fashion line at Kohl's, plus her work as an author of young adult fiction books.

Montag is focusing on undergoing plastic surgery pretty much constantly and coming out with some of the worst music in human history. Team Lauren!
