Bristol Palin: The Height of Hypocrisy

Earlier, we reported about teen mom Bristol Palin's upcoming cameo on ABC Famliy's The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Give it up for family values!

Isn't this hypocritical and counterproductive? Isn't having Bristol Palin on the show basically glorifying teen pregnancy? The network said in a press release:

"Bristol Palin is the most famous teenage mother in America. We're thrilled to have her join us, and I think she will bring additional attention to the issues facing teen parents that we've been exploring for a couple of seasons now."

"I am thrilled to be on this show and to be a part of a program that educates teens and young adults about the consequences of teen pregnancy,” said Palin.

What a crock.

Bristol Palin has chosen life. And apparently fame.

By putting a teen mom in any popular entertainment medium, ABC Family is (indirectly if not overtly) celebrating the fact that she's a teen who got pregnant.

After all, Bristol Palin is known for exactly two things:

1. Being the daughter of Sarah Palin
2. Getting knocked up by Levi Johnston

Now her famous mom wants to utilize that fact to make Bristol a celebrity while espousing family values at the same time. It's as disgusting as it is laughable.

Not to mention the ridiculousness of Sarah's claims last week about her family being off limits. Guess that only applies if Family Guy takes shots at them, eh?

This isn't Bristol's first dubious attempt to have it both ways. Last year, she was named Candie's "Teen Pregnancy Ambassador." What does that even mean? Especially from a clothing line whose ads feature Britney Spears in booty shorts?

2008: The seeds of celebrity (and Tripp Johnston) are sown.

Apparently it matters not, because it's all about making money off THE MOST FAMOUS TEEN MOM EVER! Really, ABC Family? This is your marketing hook?

Altruism, this is not. If education and prevention are really your goals, start doing public service announcements or donating time and money to charity.

If the Palins wants to shamelessly promote the Palins and teen pregnancy, great. But let's call it what it is - self-serving PR under the guise of "education."

Spotted: Angelina Jolie and Jon Voight!

Not only is this piece of Angelina Jolie gossip actually true, it involves her and gentleman she's not normally linked to by celebrity gossip news publications:

Jon Voight.

That would be her estranged actor dad (her real name is Angelina Jolie Voight). The whole Jolie-Pitt clan was seen stepping out with her dad Sunday in Italy!

The fact that Jon Voight joined Angelina Jolie, her partner Brad Pitt and their children for a trip down Venice's Grand Canal was significant for the family:

No one mentioned Jennifer Aniston even once!

Reports say the Voights are patching things up!

Although the father-daughter pair have had an uneasy relationship and have spent much of the last decade estranged, they reportedly reconciled lately.

Sunday marks the first time Jolie and Voight have been photographed together in several years. Hopefully it's indicative of a new era of good relations.

Nice to see Jon took the time out from calling Barack Obama a socialist dictator to spend time with his daughter. Life is too short to stay mad, right?

Of course, this being Angelina Jolie, she's never too far from tabloid speculation. The reason she's in Venice is to shoot The Tourist with Johnny Depp.

There are supposedly romantic sparks flying there. So it goes ...

Travis Barker, Pals Go Off on Photographer

This isn't breaking or significant news, but if you enjoy a good, old-fashioned celebrity feud-turned-melee caught on tape, you might enjoy the video below!

Travis Barker and his friends were threatening paparazzi outside a Calabasas, Calif., restaurant recently, although the reason the incident started is unclear.

The drummer and his posse were allegedly spitting at celebrity gossip cameramen, hitting the camera and, according to one man, slashing a photog's tires.

It is believed that Travis Barker first got into it with a photographer on his way into the restaurant, but neither photographer in the video is that individual.

In the video, Travis starts out screaming, "Where's your homeboy?"

The photographers claimed that one of their phones was stolen by Barker's crew. When one confronted Travis' friends about it, a guy can be heard saying:

"F**king fa**ot motherf**ker, no one has your gay ass phone."

Classy gay slurs. Didn't John Mayer teach these guys anything?

After a few more minutes of arguing, and the arrival of cops, no arrests were made, but a vandalism report was taken and people were really, really pissed!

Brooke Mueller is "Doing Well," Insider Says

While rumors continue to swirl regarding the reasons why Brooke Mueller is in a rehab facility in Malibu (some sources cite an addiction to crack), the important thing is this, a friend says:

"Brooke is doing very well."

After spending time in a hospital that dealt specifically with dangerous infections, Mueller checked into the Canyon treatment center earlier this month.

"She's been committed to getting herself in shape by getting healthy again and going to a rehab to continue her regimen with her sobriety," the source told E! News.

While she works on her marriage to Charlie Sheen, Brooke's true motivation for recovery is her children, 11-month-old sons, Max and Bob. Said the insider:

"She sees her children almost every day, and she's an extraordinary mom to them... She's really determined to get her life back on track and concentrate on being a great mom."

Sheen is due back in a Colorado court on March 15 to face a felony charge of menacing. Mueller will be close to finished with her 30-day stay at that point, but it's unknown if she'll be by his side.

** UPDATE: Brooke has left The Canyon in Malibu after a moronic staff member sent a patient admissions document to various members of the media. She's in the process of finding a new treatment center.

Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish: It's Over

He supposedly cheated to get her, and now Ryan Phillippe may have cheated and lost her.

After a three-year relationship that started when the actor cheated on wife Reese Witherspoon with Abbie Cornish, the latter has finally come to her senses and dumped Phillippe.

"Abbie ended the relationship with Ryan and she moved out of their home," her rep told People.

The break-up takes place after months of celebrity gossip rumors made Phillippe sound like the Tiger Woods of acting, minus the talent. He's been spotted with other women at nightclubs around the globe.

Asked about the cause of the split, Cornish's rep took the high road and said: "No comment."

Cornish has been in Vancouver for the last seven months shooting a movie whose title could well sum up the demise of her relationship: Sucker Punch.

** UPDATE: A friend of Phillippe's defends the actor. He told us:

“Ryan ended the relationship recently while she was in Australia and asked her to come and remove her items from his residence... She was gone for seven months in production and they basically grew apart. They’d broken up a few times prior. There was no cheating or roving eyes.”

Robert Pattinson Debuts New Hairstyle

The big news at the 2010 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards was supposed to be that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart would be in the same public place.

And they were. Stewart even picked up the Rising Star Award.

But most attention was on Kristen's rumored boyfriend, as Pattinson apparently took a shower before the ceremony... and that was it. He didn't dry or spike his typically wild hair.

Instead, Robert simply slicked it down and left the hour. After fans were relatively split on Rob's bearded look, we wonder how they'll react to this style choice. Vote below.

Jake Pavelka: Ali Fedotowsky Was in the Lead

Ali Fedotowsky was Jake Pavelka's leading candidate on The Bachelor before she voluntarily left to pursue a starring role on ABC's The Bachelorette this summer.

Oops, we mean to pursue her career back in "the real world."

In a new interview, Jake repeats his claim that the departed Ali was his "frontrunner" on the program before she was forced to choose between him and her job.

Speaking to ET Online ahead of tonight's Women Tell All special, Jake said of Ali Fedotowsky: "That night, when she left, she was ahead of all the other women."

"I can't tell you if she was going to be The One, but, that night, if somebody had said, 'Gun's to your head. Pick a girl,' it would have been her," the pilot added.

But, despite her not-at-all staged plea to return to the show approximately 12 minutes later, "we had a long way to go and I forced myself to close that book."

He says he did not invite Ali back when she requested to because he had already moved forward with the three remaining women. Not even a full episode later.

"The transitions from hometowns to exotics, that's where you really start to get intimate with them, and I'd already done that with all three of the women," he said.

Translation: He was getting so much tail in the fantasy suite on last week's episode that it wasn't fair to the other girls he was naked with at the time she called.

It is truly astonishing just how much natural drama and spontaneous plot twists occur absolutely unscripted on The Bachelor. What are the chances of all this?

Career girl Ali has to leave the show for her job ... even though she presumably took time off to go on the show in the first place. All of a sudden it's an issue?

Then - what are the odds - when she returns to her hectic life at home, there's a camera crew there to catch it all and she immediately regrets her decision.

Ali can't even bear to go on ... you can always get a great job, but you can't always find love on a reality TV show with a complete stiff like Jake Pavelka!

She's filled with "anxiety" and "can't focus on work." It's tough, finding the work-life balance. As is scheduling time for all the talk show interviews she's done.

Catholic League President: Jesus Was Totally Not Gay, Elton John is Ignorant and Intolerant

On one hand, according to his new interview with Parade, Elton John does not want to be a celebrity anymore.

On the other hand, the singer guaranteed himself headlines when he took the controversial stance that Jesus Christ was gay. He also referred to the Son of God as "super-intelligent," two remarks that have elicited a response from Catholic League President Bill Donohue.

He's released a statement that reads:

Jesus was certainly compassionate, but to say He was “super-intelligent” is to compare the Son of God to a successful game-show contestant. More seriously, to call Jesus a homosexual is to label Him a sexual deviant.

But what else would we expect from a man who previously said, “From my point of view, I would ban religion completely.”

We’re not sure what’s worse—John’s ignorance or intolerance. In any event, if we thought we could persuade him to issue an apology, we would try. But given his recidivism, we won’t even bother to ask. One thing is clear: someone needs to straighten John out.

Tiger Returns to Rehab, Elin Woods in Tow

One day after Tiger Woods' public apology for cheating on wife Elin, he made good on his claim of returning for more treatment and therapy almost immediately.

Tiger and Elin Woods spent time together Friday after his apology speech and Saturday afternoon before he flew out of the Orlando area late Saturday evening.

It is believed Elin accompanied him on his flight aboard one of the golf legend's private jets, which took off around 7 p.m., bound for a rehab center in Arizona.

Previously, Tiger had been receiving in-patient care at Gentle Path in Hattiesburg, Miss. This time, Scottsdale, Ariz., is the destination, although only for a week.

Elin Woods and their kids are with him, at least for now.

“Elin may not stay the entire week with him,” a source said, noting that while relations have thawed somewhat. “She taking the marriage one day at a time.”

Woods' wife was not by his side at the big press conference Friday, but there has been progress made in their marriage, with more time spent as a family.

“Tiger wants time with his family and he wants Elin to be part of his recovery,” the source said “He knows it’s a long road but he’s taking it one step at a time.”

Tiger and Elin had dinner two nights in a row before Tiger’s televised speech, in which he went out of his way to praise Elin and tell America to leave her alone.

Elin called off her divorce lawyer a while ago, but only on a temporary basis. She has told Tiger that doesn’t mean that she’s staying with him, reports suggest.

She's still not wearing her wedding ring, either. Will the golf star's apology be enough? Will he, as he says, prove how sorry he is by his actions over time?

Matt Kemp Shows Rihanna the Birthday Love

Matt Kemp is projected as the sixth-best player in fantasy baseball headed into the 2010 MLB season. If hitting home runs with celebrities was a statistic, though?

He'd still be behind Alex Rodriguez. But that #2 spot would be within reach after the awesome 22nd birthday party he threw for Rihanna in Phoenix this weekend!

Rihanna was "shocked" by the baseball star's grand gestures, apparently expecting a small get-together with a few friends, but getting a whole lot more than that.

Kemp had been planning the event for a month to make sure Rihanna's birthday was special, according to an insider, and boy did he come through in the clutch.

Flowers, cupcakes, tiki torches in the pool, engraved bottles of Ace of Spades and Johnny Walker Blue, and a personal Jamaican chef? A kick-ass time was had.

Sounds like Matt Kemp's birthday bash for Rihanna was a smash hit.

Around 40 people showed up, including friends of both the singer and Matt Kemp, who topped off the night with a cake decorated with Rihanna's many tattoos.

"It was so sweet and she was really surprised," the source said. "She looked just beautiful." Especially in the custom diamond necklace her beau bought for her!

This guy's really going the extra mile. While she has been coy about dating Matt Kemp so far, they're leaving little doubt about a major love connection going on.

Only 25 years old and in his prime, Matt Kemp would be a keeper in any fantasy league. Looks like Rihanna might rate him that way in the game of love, as well.

Doug Reinhardt Not Mr. Paris Hilton ... Yet

Paris Hilton celebrated her 29th day of birth Las Vegas-style Saturday night, with her handsome, boy toy accessory Doug Reinhardt right by her side as usual.

The socialite strutted down the red carpet before heading into her party (don't we all) in a white Preen dress, Christian Louboutin shoes, and Chanel earrings.

Those were a gift from Doug, natch.

While there was no news of an engagement ring, Hilton gushed of her love for The Hills star (and ex of Lauren Conrad) while chatting it up with reporters.

Asked if the couple was ready to walk down the aisle, Hilton actually did not drop hints for once, demurring with: "We'll see what happens in the future."

Doug and Paris celebrate her 29th year on this planet.

"Right now we are so happy to be together and are really in love," she said.

That sounds nice. Doug Reinhardt has such terrific trophy husband qualities, we're sure he'll get to that level eventually. For now, though, the focus is having fun.

That they did the other night with a group of friends who snacked on a tower of commemorative cupcakes prior to partaking in the nightclub b-day festivities.

In addition to their VIP table inside the club, they were soon accompanied by a giant cake and of course...a rendition of "Stars Are Blind." Life is good for Paris.

Padma Lakshmi Welcomes a Girl

She's still mum on her baby's father, but Padma Lakshmi can't hide the fact that she's a new mother.

The Top Chef host gave birth to a girl named Krishna on Saturday. Confirmed her rep:

"Model, author and Emmy-nominated host of Top Chef Padma Lakshmi gave birth to a baby girl named Krishna Thea Lakshmi on Saturday. Mother and baby are well and happy."

As first reported in October, the pregnancy itself was considered "a medical miracle" because Lakshmi has struggled with endometriosis, a uterine condition that often results in infertility.

In 2007, Padma got divorced from author Salman Rushdie. We wish her and her daughter noting but the best.
