Most celebrity break-ups aren't exactly shocking. We scarcely raised an eyebrow when Brody Jenner and Jayde Nicole called it quits this week.
But the following news of a split has taken us by surprise:
"Actress Susan Sarandon and her partner of 23 years, actor Tim Robbins have announced that they separated over the summer," the actress' rep said in a statement. "No further comments will be made."
The couple met on the set of Bull Durham and never married; but they have two sons together, Jack, 20, and Miles, 17.
Well-known political activitises, Sarandon and Robbins are also multiple-time Oscar nominees.
There's no truth to the rumor that the relationship ended after she took a golf club to his SUV.
