Olsen Twins are Serious about Design

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have been kind of quiet lately, something not very Olsen Twins-like, and the reason is probably that they’ve been concentrating on their design business. The pair, which already designed a clothing line for JC Penney and is about to release a sunglasses and handbags collection, is now branching out and taking their first steps into a brand new type of designing: furniture.

According to New York magazine, their design work is not about their celebrity status or trying to exploit their names. Actually Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen tried to downplay their involvement in the line. Ashley said:

We’ve never come at it from a celebrity perspective. It’s been about the design. We almost tried to find a front person for a while, so we could just kind of be behind it, but it’s worked out.

Charlotte Lewis Accuses Roman Polanski

Roman Polanski may be in much bigger trouble than he originally thought when he was snatched by American justice and dragged back to the US a few months ago. British actress Charlotte Lewis has come forward with accusations of rape, which put Polanski is a very difficult situation: you can try to “explain” one sexual misconduct, but two? Eek!

Charlotte Lewis’ statement reads:

[Polanski] sexually abused me in the worst possible way when I was just 16. He knew [how old I was] when he met me and forced himself upon me in his apartment in Paris. He took advantage of me and I have lived with the effects of his behavior ever since it occurred. I’ve traveled to the U.S. at my own expense to make sure that justice is finally done and that Mr. Polanski gets what he deserves. All I want is justice.

Now, I would like to know: What is a 16 year old girl doing ALL BY HERSELF in an old guy’s apartment? Why did it take her this long to come forward with these accusations, instead of going to the law right then and there and having a doctor collect DNA evidence from her coochie? Hmmm…. Something is fishy here, and I’m not just talking about Charlotte Lewis’ crotch.

Bad girl wannabe Taylor Momsen (16) has more stories to tell us about how bad she is. This time Momsen says she took a knife on an airplane:

"I have my favorite black knife with me all the time. It’s a switchblade. It relaxes me to flick it."

"I flew from New York to Los Angeles and still had a couple of knives in my purse. I thought I took them all out but they got tucked up in the folds. I went through security, took them on the plane, opened my bag to get my wallet in LA and they fell out. I was like: "Holy sh!t!’"

There she goes again with the inappropriate swearing. Carrying a knife on a plane sounds pretty low brow if you ask me. I thought Momsen said she was a kid genius or something. I’d believe her story if she was arrested.

Regis Philbin To Have Blood Clot Removed from His Leg

Next week Regis Philbin (78) says he will have a blood clot removed from the calf of his leg, which he says causes him a lot of pain when he walks.

In 2007 Philbin had triple coronary artery bypass surgery, and in December of 2009 he had hip replacement surgery. On Thursday he said:

"One of the things you’ve got to do when you get a new hip is continue to walk, but I can’t walk very long."

The danger of a clot is that all or part of it could break off, circulate to the brain, heart, kidney, lungs, or something else important and cut off the blood circulation killing that tissue, and killing the person.

To return blood back to the heart to circulate again throughout the body, the body uses muscles to squeeze the blood in veins back to the heart. Each time a person moves, or walks, those muscles squeeze blood in veins, and when the muscles relax valves in the viens keep the blood from moving backward. If a person does not move enough the blood pools in the veins, which will eventually form a clot, even if the person is taking blood thinners as Philbin certainly is for his heart condition. People on long international flights who cannot walk around during the flight have been known to develop a deep vein thrombosus (DVT), or blood clot, in the calf muscle area of the lower leg. Walking, and moving, helps to prevent blood clots.

A year or two ago three bloggers had heart attacks, and one died, most likely from clots due to long periods of physical inactivity while writing.

The bottom line no matter who you are is move frequently to keep the blood circulating back to the heart.

Russell Crowe Walks Out of Insulting Interview

Russell Crowe did a BBC radio interview yesterday with interviewer Mark Lawson to promote his new movie Robin Hood. In the interview the host comments that his accent in the movie sounded more Irish than English, which upset Crowe.

Lawson says he heard a hint of Irish in Crowe’s accent from the movie, to which Crowe responds:

"You’ve got dead ears, mate, seriously dead ears if you think there’s an Irish accent."

Lawson then asks if the accent is more northern English, to which Crowes sarcastically responds:

"No I was going for an Italian, yeah. Missed it? F*ck me. Anyway."

Lawson then continues to try to get under Crowe’s skin to elicitate an angrier response by asking about something that happened during the filming of Gladiator. Lawson then asked about a claim from a book that says Crowe didn’t want to say the line:

"And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next."

The book also claims Crowe walked off the set twice before saying that line, and it claims that Crowe had a dispute with the film producer of Gladiator Branko Lustig over pay for some of his assistants, which prompted Crowe to call Lustig at 3 am to say:

"You motherf*cker. I will kill you with my bare hands."

The book then claims Lustig was so convinced Crowe wanted to kill him that he called Steven Spielberg to quit the movie saying:

"Steven. I’m leaving. Russell wants to kill me. I’m leaving."

Lustig is a 77-year-old Jewish concentration camp survivor.

After Lawson asked about the line from the book Crowe got up and left the interview saying:

"I don’t get the Irish thing by the way. I don’t get it at all."

Crowe was right to walk out of the interview because if any of those things happened they are now in the past, and he probably would like to move forward, but the problem he faces, which Lawson did not bring up, is the rumor that Crowe also exhibited the same behavior on Robin Hood which caused the movie to get delayed and go way over budget.

Matt Lauer Accused of Cheating on Wife with Alexis Houston

Matt Lauer has been accused of cheating on his wife Annette Roque a second time. The first time Lauer was accused of cheating with 26- year-old Jessica Thorman just weeks before his and Annette’s October 1998 wedding. Jessica was married at the time – and later divorced as a result of her relationship with the Lauer.

Matt and Annette briefly separated in 2005 amid continuing rumors of infidelity, but the couple managed to patch things up.

Annette filed for divorce on September 13, 2005, while pregnant with the couple’s third child, but called it off a month later.

Now there are allegations that Lauer cheated on his wife Annette again, this time with two women, one of whom has been identified as Alexis Houston.

Alexis Houston is the sister of Whitney Houston. Alexis denies having an affair with Lauer, and her rep adds:

"The allegations regarding Ms. Houston and Mr. Lauer are false. If they have met at the Today Show, in the past, that would be the extent of their interaction."

"However, Ms Houston has never had any sort of relationship with Mr. Lauer and does not even recall meeting him."

Reports said Lauer walked out on his wife, and three children, but Lauer denies the report.

Charlotte Lewis Makes New Allegations Against Roman Polanski

Charlotte Lewis, a British citizen, hired ambulance chaser Gloria Allred to represent her in making a new allegation against Roman Polanski, where she alleges Polanski forced himself upon her in his apartment in Paris, France when she was 16 years-old.

A reporter asked why come forward so many months after police have been trying to get Polanski. Another reporter asked Allred if she has researched the age of consent in Paris, France at the time Lewis alleges a crime occurred, which could mean no crime occurred. Gloria said no, she doesn’t want to speculate. A reporter asked if Lewis will be shopping around for a book deal.

Allred filed a criminal complaint with the district attorney, but has not filed any further legal action, which Gloria says could affect Polanski’s sentencing.

Reporters asked if Gloria believes her client is credible, which appeared to be a statement by the reporter she believes Lewis is not credible.

Lewis made her film debut as a teenager in the 1986 Roman Polanski film Pirates. Lewis also appeared in a cover-featured pictorial in the July 1993 issue of Playboy magazine.

Lewis does not appear to be credible in any way. She offered generalized allegations that occurred in France, which have no real impact on anything that has happened here in the United States, made the allegations 26 years after she claims Polanski forced himself on her, and long after police having been trying to get Polanski back into the United States. I also don’t think posing for Playboy is something a victim of abuse would even consider.

Polanski confessed to a crime against a minor, and there are a lot of people who want to see him, as Lewis put it "Get what he deserves."

I don’t believe Lewis, and I don’t believe lying is going to help bring Polanski to justice.

Despite the fact that Polanski is a fugitive criminal, I believe people who make serious false allegations like this should get a harsh jail sentence, equal to what the accused would get if falsely convicted.
