Studio Slams Simon Monjack Claims, Lawsuit Threat

Warner Brothers was apparently far from pleased that Simon Monjack matter-of-factly accused them of killing his late wife, Brittany Murphy. Who'd have guessed.

The studio hit back at Con-jack's extraordinarily ridiculous claim that the studio's decision to fire Brittany Murphy directly resulted in her death December 20.

For one, a legal link between her death, however upsetting, and being fired from a movie set is pretty absurd. More importantly, they say she was never hired.

Kinda makes it hard to get fired, right?

"Any claim that Warner Bros. Pictures was somehow responsible for Brittany Murphy's tragic death is demonstrably false, reprehensible and defamatory," they said.

"Despite press reports to the contrary, Warner Bros. and Ms. Murphy never entered into any deal for Happy Feet 2, and thus, there was no contract to cancel."

Simon Monjack wed Brittany Murphy in 2007.

While clearly upset about his wife's death and deserving of some leeway, Simon Monjack is not making it easy for himself to be seen as a sympathetic figure.

His history of seedy behavior aside, he has gone almost overboard with the PR since Murphy died, ostensibly to defend her, but also to cast blame on others.

Who knows what the sleaze has up his sleeve next.

This supposed Lady Gaga tryst is not the first time Angelina Jolie has been accused of cheating on Brad Pitt. Heck, it's not even the first time this week!

The domestic agenda of Barack Obama was not the only thing affected by the election of Scott Brown as a senator from Massachusetts.

The politician's daughter, Ayla Brown, has found herself back in the spotlight.

A season five semifinalist on American Idol, Ayla had pretty much faded into obscurity prior to her dad's shocking victory. She had planned to release a new album in April, but her label called the morning after Mr. Brown was elected and said it wanted to move up the release date of "Circles." To January 26!

Fortunately, the CD was complete and Brown can look forward to greater sales than previously expected. She talked about the whirlwind of her career with Entertainment Weekly:

Mysteries Linger in Brittany Murphy Case

The investigation into the death of Brittany Murphy has taken an unexpected turn as the L.A. County Coroner's Office tries to fill in key gaps in her medical history.

The actress, who died December 20 at the age of 32, was suffering from severe anemia and other conditions and was under a physician's care, according to TMZ.

The Coroner's Office received medical files from Murphy's doctor, but they show her last visit was months before her death. But someone else was treating her.

The pathologist assigned to the case has been told by Brittany Murphy's friends and family members that other doctors treated Murphy during her final months.

Officials believe these other doctors could help determine her medical condition leading up to her death, and shed light on what, if any, medications she was on.

The toxicology report is not completed, but when it is, the coroner will determine if the medications in Murphy's system were prescribed to her or someone else.

Investigators found numerous medications in Murphy's home after her death.

The mystery comes because those medications were prescribed to Murphy, her husband Simon Monjack, her mom Sharon, and "unidentified third party names."

Monjack has said, in several of his many interviews since Murphy's death, that the meds were his. But it doesn't appear to be case, at least not exclusively.

Dude's also suing Warner Brothers for wrongful her death. What a nut job.

In any case, the Coroner's Office is not expected to release the official cause of Brittany's death for weeks, with these various loose ends needing to be tied.

MTV's only newest hit show is coming back for Season 2!

The network, which had been engaged in some heated negotiations with the Jersey Shore cast, will run it back this summer with all the original stars on hand.

We can't wait for a new dose of DJ Pauly D, The Situation, Snooki, J-WOWW, Sammi, Ronnie and Vinny, although it looks like they'll be in a different setting.

That's right, Seaside Heights lucked out. The gang will “escape the cold Northeast and find themselves in a new destination,” MTV said in a Friday statement.

Warm weather locales, consider yourself forewarned.

FIST-PUMP! All seven of these guidos and guidettes will be back on MTV.

MTV continued: “Our audience fell in love with Jersey Shore and its amazing cast who have really grown together as a family. That bond gives the show its heart."

"We’re thrilled to reunite these friends to bring fans what they love - laughs, love, drama and of course, GTL,” the network's president said in the announcement.

That would be gym, tanning and laundry - the daily routine of The Situation.

She doesn't have the kind of star power as George Clooney, so Kim Kardashian can't exactly organize a telethon.

But the reality TV veteran can use her expertise to assist the victims of this month's earthquake in Haiti. No, she won't donate the proceeds of a new sex tape to the cause.

Jay Photoglou: Suing Gretchen Rossi for Slander

According to Jay Photoglou, Gretch Rossi is more than a Real Housewife of Orange County.

She's also a real, giant, big, fat liar, reads a lawsuit filed this week.

The litigation stems from Rossi and Photoglou's supposed relationship. The photographer says he and Rossi began dating in 2008 and that she told him she was acting as a caregiver to her terminally ill “ex-boyfriend friend, Jeff Beitzel.”

However, once Gretchen landed a spot on the Bravo series, she denied she was involved with Jay and played up her relationship with Betzel.

The lawsuit claims that Rossi was “intimately involved with Photoglou the entire time the show filmed Rossi’s first season” and is charging the spoiled non-housewife for damaging his reputation by calling him a liar, a drunk and a thief. It cites libel and slander and five other counts.

This isn't the first time Gretchen has been involved in a scandal.

She's been caught posing nude online and she's planning a painful singing career. If Photoglou wins his lawsuit, perhaps he can put a gag order on Rossi's vocal chords. Forever.

Linda Hogan to Pen Tell-All Biography, No One to Read It

Unlike the Oprah Winfrey autobiography we wrote about earlier today, the following book is actually going forward. To the chagrin of numerous trees that will be killed in its name.

In response to her ex-husband's recent memoir, which labeled her an “abusive alcoholic,” Linda Hogan is preparing a tell-all of her own.

It will focus on her turbulent relationship with Hulk Hogan; her son's 2007 car accident; and "how much better life is now that she is no longer married," her attorney, Ray Rafool, said.

Rafool also labeled the upcoming book as "uplifting," which we can only assume is a reference to where her skirt ends up every night in bed with 19-year old Charlie Hill.

“She will include all the trials she endured during the marriage, Nick’s accident and the things she has accomplished,” Rafool told Fox News. “Linda wants people to know her – she understands what it is like to get a divorce, to be a mother with grown children and establish a career and move forward.”

That career? Bitter ex-reality star.

Rafool adds that Hulk Hogan probably won't like the book. If it includes more references to her daughter's boob job and banging habits, Brooke Hogan might not be a fan of it, either.

Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney, one of the most controversial (and successful) couples in the history of The Bachelor, are getting married in just over a month.

ABC will be televising it in a two-hour special.

The Bachelor: Jason and Molly's Wedding, will air Monday, March 8. We're fairly sure that's one week after the current season finale, which would make sense.

The big wedding special for Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney will also show the bride's dress fitting, planning for the day, bachelor/bachelorette parties, etc.

Past participants of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette will be on hand, which probably goes with the territory when Mike Fleiss gets to plan your nuptials.

The Bachelor's 0-13 marriage steak is about to come to an end! Well, technically not, as Molly Malaney didn't receive Jason Mesnick's final rose ... but close enough!

The Bachelor wedding is only the second such event in the franchise's 19 seasons.The Bachelorette star Trista Rehn married Ryan Sutter on TV in 2003.

Jason proposed to Molly Malaney in New Zealand, the site of the infamous March 2009 season finale where he initially chose Melissa Rycroft instead of her.

He soon broke up with Melissa and asked Molly for another chance on the After the Final Rose special. She said yes, and they got engaged in October.

Mesnick first became a franchise fixture as runner-up on DeAnna Pappas' edition ofThe Bachelorette. He then became The Bachelor's first single dad.

Jasmine Anema Passes Away

Jasmina Anema, who captured the hearts of President Obama, Rihanna and thousands of ordinary Americans, lost her courageous fight against leukemia today.

The little girl was just six years old.

"Today, January 27, at 10:55 p.m., Jasmina lost her fight against leukemia," her grief-stricken mother wrote to a sad group of supporters who that rallied around Jasmine's worldwide, public campaign to find bone-marrow donors.

President Barack Obama himself commented on the sand news, releasing a statement:

Jasmina Anema was not lacking for celebrity support.

"It is with great sadness that Michelle and I extend our condolences on the passing of Jasmina Anema ... she showed tremendous bravery, and her ability to remain positive was an inspiration to me and to all those she touched."

Jasmina Anema's story gained publicity last year when Rihanna made a public plea for bone-marrow donors to come forward. As a result, Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams, NBA star Paul Pierce and others joined the cause.

Jasmina received her transplant last year when a near-perfect match was found. But in September, her leukemia returned, though she always remained positive.

Rest in peace, Jasmina, and may your inspiring story give hope to others out there waging similar struggles, and to those who lend a hand to others in need.

Supriya Harris Accuses Steven Jackson of Abuse

Steven Jackson hears a lot of boos as a member of the St. Louis Rams. If he did what he's accused of here, he'll think the abysmal 2009 season was nothing.

The running back is accused of beating up girlfriend Supriya Harris during an "argument" last March - while she was nine months pregnant with his child.

In a complaint filed with the Las Vegas Police Department, Harris says that Steven Jackson "became enraged and pushed me to the ground, repeatedly."

Harris claims her then-boyfriend, "forcibly grabbed my arm and flung me against the door. I was protect my stomach from the blows, I was 9 mos pregnant."

That's even more messed up than Harris' grammar.

Did Steven Jackson ram Supriya Harris into a door?

Even worse, Supriya Harris claims Jackson "continued to shove me against the door until his nephew ... interceded and yelled, 'uncle, she has a baby, stop.'"

Harris claims she was "bleeding heavily" from wounds she received after she was smashed into a door handle and Jackson took her to a nearby hospital.

There, he instructed her to lie and tell doctors that she was injured from a fall in the shower. Ten days after the incident, Harris gave birth to their son.

According to the complaint, Harris claims she left Steven four months later after he threatened to beat her up again at a music festival in New Orleans.

Jackson and Harris have been arguing over child support payments, with Harris filing documents begging a judge to force Steven Jackson to pay up.

That case is still pending.

Samantha Harris: Leaving Dancing with the Stars

Samantha Harris is exiting the ballroom.

The Dancing With the Stars co-host has announced her resignation from the show. She won't return for the its tenth season, which kicks off on March 22.

“[Dancing with the Stars] could not have been more of a dream job,” she said. “I loved every single second of it and I’ve made lifelong friends at the show.”

So, why is she leaving? Harris majored in journalism at Northwestern University (go Wildcats!) and wants to focus on other projects, such as her correspondent duties at The Insider.

“I interned at Entertainment Tonight 15 years ago, the summer after my sophomore year at Northwestern and I dreamed of working in the same space as hosts Mary Hart and Mark Steines and now I’m living that dream,” Harris said.

Brooke Mueller: Reportedly in Rehab

Earlier this week, multiple sources reported that Brooke Mueller was ordered by doctors to rest and relax in order to fight off a recent infection.

We wonder if they have masseuses and spa treatments in rehab.

According to Entertainment Tonight, that's where Charlie Sheen's troubled wife is headed, as insiders say she has entered a drug and alcohol center in North Carolina.

Mueller was arrested on a DUI charge in 1996 and for cocaine possession in 2001. She was released from the hospital on Monday, where she was being treated for pneumonia.

Legally, Brooke is still barred from communicating with Sheen. A judge will rule on a protective order against the actor next month. Until then, it sounds like Mueller is doing her best to clean up her act and become the best mother she can be to young twins Sam and Max.

We wish her the best of luck with that goal.

Adrian Pasdar Arrested for DUI

Looks like Adrian Pasdar couldn't flee the Heroes set quickly enough!

The actor that played Nathan Petrelli on that critically-lambasted series was arrested early this morning for "failing to maintain his lane," according to police, on the 405 in Los Angeles. He was clocked driving his Ford F-150 truck at 94 mph.

Reports indicate that cops pulled Pasar over around 3 a.m. and smelled alcohol on his breath. He refused to take a breathalyzer and was eventually placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.

The actor - who is married to Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines - was taken to a nearby jail. His bail was set at $15,000, but, hey, it could be worse:

Paul Shirley: Haiti Can Go Help Itself!

Paul Shirley, a former journeyman NBA basketball player turned writer, is under fire today for recent comments about earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.

Namely, they put themselves in this mess, so he's not going to be donating any money. He has a right to that opinion, certainly, but his word choice?

In an essay published at FlipCollective, he says he "has not donated a cent" to Haiti and likens it to giving a homeless guy money. It's a lost cause.

"I don't think the people of Haiti will do much with my money either," he says.

The questions posed by his missive as a whole - whether events like the Hope For Haiti telethon are worthwhile, and whether a certain level responsibility for such a disaster lies with the victims of the disaster - are not entirely off base.

However, Paul Shirley might have considered an alternate ending.

In arguing that there should be some discourse on how the millions poured into Haiti will be spent, he writes a hypothetical message from the world to Haiti:

Dear Haitians –

First of all, kudos on developing the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Your commitment to human rights, infrastructure, and birth control should be applauded.

As we prepare to assist you in this difficult time, a polite request: If it's possible, could you not re-build your island home in the image of its predecessor? Could you not resort to the creation of flimsy shanty- and shack-towns? And could some of you maybe use a condom once in a while?

Ellen DeGeneres turned 52 years old yesterday, but her viewers got the real treat:

Adam Lambert performed his single "Strut" on the talk show, and followed it up by presenting Ellen with a special present: an autographed portrait of himself... and his underwear.

Both items will be put up for auction, with the proceeds going toward relief efforts in Haiti.

“I wore my special Ellen underwear,” he told DeGeneres, as the audience cheered. They might be a little sweaty, but these are up for auction, as well.”

Will Ferrell, Wife Viveca Paulin Welcome Baby #3!

Just hours after sending Conan O'Brien into Tonight Show retirement with a rendition of "Free Bird" on his final episode on NBC, Will Ferrell was still rocking.

He and wife Viveca Paulin welcomed their third son - a boy by the rock n' roll approved name of Axel Ferrell! The little guy arrived on Saturday morning.

"All the Ferrells are well," said his rep, who confirmed the news.

Baby Axel joins older brothers Magnus, 5 1/2, and Mattias, 3.

Will Ferrell and Viveca Paulin, who met in an acting class 15 years ago and wed back in 2000 – announced her third pregnancy back in September.

Katy Perry to Become Full-Time American Idol Judge?

Aside from Andrew Garcia, American Idol fans weren't treated to incredible performances last night, as only 22 contestants received a ticket to Hollywood.

But they were treated to a couple tense exchanges between guest judge Katy Perry and Kara DioGuardi, as the former made herself right at home on the panel.

After Kara talked up the personal story of Chris Golightly, for example, Perry shot back: "This is not a Lifetime movie, sweetheart."

Then, when Kara began singing "I Kissed a Girl," Perry responded: "Please stop before I throw my Coke in your face!"

It was great, entertaining stuff - which made us excited to hear that Katy would actually consider the gig full-time. She told MTV today:

"The American Idol experience was awesome. If I was offered that job as a permanent host, I would ditch my career and take on that career."

She continued: "It's kind of like judging a talent show. American Idol was great fun. It was so easy. I didn't really make anybody cry, but I did tell the truth to some kids that might have needed to hear it."

Of course, Perry knows the hard part is yet to come. She didn't have to make any difficult cuts during Hollywood Week and beyond.

"I guess the pressure gets really on when you start eliminating the number of people that are going through," she said. "Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, and then you've got the final two. That can be kind of tense and stressful."

ABC Cancels Ugly Betty

It's made stars out of America Ferrera, Vanessa Williams and braces.

But after a solid run on ABC, Ugly Betty is going off the air. Despite critical acclaim this season, and a recent move to viewer friendly Wednesday nights, the show's ratings were simply too low.

Wrote producer Silvio Horta and ABC president Steve McPherson in a statement:

“We’ve mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty’s final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion. We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell.”

Mark Indelicato, who plays Betty’s nephew Justin Suarezm, referred to the series as "a learning experience and said: “It’s been an amazing four years."

Simon Monjack to Sue Warner Brothers For Wrongful Death of Brittany Murphy

Simon Monjack, much-maligned husband of Brittany Murphy, is only days away from filing a wrongful death action against Warner Brothers, claiming that the studio is responsible for the unexpected death of the 32-year-old actress.

“They killed her,” he told The Daily Beast matter-of-factly.

Two weeks prior to Murphy's sudden death December 20, the studio fired her from the Happy Feet sequel, where she was to reprise the role of penguin Gloria.

"She was devastated," Monjack said.

Murphy's cause of death has yet to be released by the coroner's office, but Simon Monjack says her heart attack was a direct result of the cancelled contract.

"It's a cruel town," Simon Monjack says of L.A.

"You're disposable as an actress or actor. But I am tough. I litigate when somebody does something wrong to me. It's one of the reasons I make enemies."

Monjack acknowledges in his latest of many interviews defending his marriage that it surprised many. “I was never the right guy to marry Brittany,” he says.

"She was supposed to marry a young dashing star with a million-dollar smile, not end up with a balding, heavyset guy who doesn't play by their rules."

He recoils, though, at accusations of freeloading.

"I spent over a million on her engagement rings ... probably $3 million on clothes," he said. "When Brittany died she had 60 pieces of unworn Louis Vuitton ... The dog had Louis Vuitton. This was all me. We kept our money separate."

Did his controversial presence "ruin" her? "Brittany's films had grossed $100 million before she met me," he insists. "But her career ended before then."

He adds, "She trusted some people who she shouldn't have." Plenty of fans agree there - they just consider Simon Monjack to be one of those people.

Tim Tebow Super Bowl Ad Rankles Pro-Choice Advocates

On the field, University of Florida senior Tim Tebow is stirring up a great deal of controversy: Will he succeed in the NFL as a quarterback? Will he be drafted in the first round? What position is he best suited for as a professional?

But those questions pale in comparison to the fervor Tebow is creating away from the gridiron.

The former Heisman Trophy winner is slated to star in air a 30-second Super Bowl commercial this season. It will be paid for by the Christian group Focus on the Family and will emphasize the football star's pro-life stance on abortion.

The ad, whose slogan is "Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life," features Tebow and his mother Pam, who ignored doctor's orders to terminate her pregnancy.

The decision by CBS to air the $2.5 million commercial has come under fire from the Women’s Media Center. In a letter to the network, it writes:

CBS’s recent decision to air an anti-choice advertisement during Super Bowl XLIV was outrageous. Even worse is the network’s about face from its own policy of rejecting controversial Super Bowl ads. The Women’s Media Center, and organizations dedicated to reproductive rights, tolerance, and social justice, are urging the network to immediately cancel this ad.

This does make for an interesting case, as free speech advocates will stand by the ad and point to the First Amendment.

Often misunderstood, this amendment has nothing to do with an instance such as this. It simply means one cannot be jailed solely for expressing one's views.

CBS, for example, has rejected numerous commercials in the past, such as campaigns on behalf of PETA, MoveOn.org and the United Church of Christ. It's surprising the network would approve such a clearly controversial spot.

Then again, how can something be "anti-choice," as the organization references above? Tebow isn't mandating an end to abortions, he's simply expressing a view, the choice he'd make if faced with the situation.

"I know some people won't agree with it, but I think they can at least respect that I stand up for what I believe," he said.

Denise Richards Makes Charlie Sheen Situation About Herself

Denise Richards took time away from alerting the paparazzi to her and her children's whereabouts to sit down with Oprah Winfrey this week.

The F-list actress was asked about ex-husband Charlie Sheen and his recent run-in with the law. Does Richards feel sorry for Brooke Mueller? Does she worry about Charlie's kids? Maybe.

But one of her first replies was to bring everything back to herself: "Perhaps people can understand what I went through," she said.

Richards said Sheen never got physical with her during their tumultuous marriage, but there were "a lot of verbal arguments that got heated that scared me" and led to a restraining order.

"I was in a very dark place," she told Winfrey of the end of her relationship with Sheen. "Especially when I filed the restraining order, I was humiliated. I was scared. I was embarrassed."

To Richards' credit, she worked with a mediator to arrive at "a great place" with her ex. She says she trusts him with their daughters.

As for Oprah, if she keeps having guests of this nature on her show, she may lose her status as America's favorite TV personality.

Will Sex Addiction Rehab Help Tiger Woods?

Is Tiger Woods really a sex addict, or is he just using his stint in rehab as part of a carefully-managed plan to rehab his career? Is sex addiction even real?

Come on, you know you're thinking it too. Tiger was packaged as a upstanding family man for years, why should we assume anything he does is genuine?

You certainly can't give him the benefit of the doubt. On the flip side, if Tiger truly wants to stay married, seeking some kind of treatment is the way to go.

Is Tiger an actual sex addict? We can't say.

If sex addiction rehab in Mississippi is just a vehicle for regaining his wife's trust, though, then so be it. As for whether sex addiction is a real thing, it is.

The New York Times magazine scribe who confirmed Tiger is being treated at Pine Grove is a recovering sex addict himself, and has penned books on it.

Also, Dr. Shari Corbitt, senior executive director at Promises in Malibu, tells E's Answer Bitch that "the chemicals that are released in the brain when people are acting out with sex dependency are every bit as powerful as any substance."

Reports have indicated that Elin Woods - whose texts to Rachel Uchitel exposed the first of what became many Tiger mistresses - has been visiting Tiger.

If the visitation reports are true, it makes sense, addiction experts say, because spouses are usually intimately involved in an addiction recovery process.

"Couples therapy is a huge part of the treatment," says Corbitt, whose Promises facilities also treat sex addiction when paired with substance abuse. "

It would actually be odd if she weren't visiting."

As for what exactly the couple might be doing, experts say it likely starts with Tiger admitting EVERYTHING he did. That would be a long-ass meeting.
