Oksana Grigorieva Hires New Lawyer, May Sue Mel

With no settlement or truce in sight in her battle with Mel Gibson, Oksana Grigorieva has added a top criminal and civil attorney to her legal team.

James Spertus, a former federal prosecutor and an experienced trial attorney who specializes in civil and criminal litigation, is on Team Oksana.

She had met with civil rights campaigner Lisa Bloom as well as with Mark Lane, who wrote the famous JFK conspiracy book Rush to Judgment.

As she gears up for this protracted legal brawl, Spertus joins power lawyers Manley Freid and Marci Levine in the Russian musician's corner.

Oksana Grigorieva claims Mel Gibson exploded in rage January 6 at his Malibu mansion and punched her twice as she held their baby Lucia.

She is considering filing a possible civil complaint against Mel.

Mel and Oksana

Mel and Oksana's relationship has been controversial from the start.

Gibson has accused his ex-girlfriend of trying to extort money from him after recording vile and abusive telephone conversations he made.

The Mel Gibson tapes were indeed vile and abusive ... verbally. As of right now, Mel Gibson has not been charged with any crime, however.

One of Grigorieva's new lawyer's immediate missions upon hiring, TMZ reports? Hiring experts who can sweep Oksana's home for bugs.

Sources say Oksana is worried Mel or the media has planted cameras or wiretapping devices and Spertus doesn't want to take chances.

Mel supposedly has his own PIs working the case.
