Chances are if you are over 30 years-old, you’ve missed the whole Tokio Hotel thing. The German band featuring twin brothers Bill and Tom Kaulitz have a huge European and MySpace fanbase (read: young) but haven’t quite managed to cross over onto the mainstream US rock scene.
I’m not sure why they haven’t gotten any US radio play. They have everything we love in our pop/rock stars. Tons of catchy songs, an edgy European style and an effeminate lead singer that makes Adam Lambert look like Rambo.
Tokio Hotel might just see some US success soon, they’ve been included on the Alice in Wonderland soundtrack with a song called Strange.
Here’s a cool Nylon TV video of the boys talking about their influences..etc. Be warned…it’s unbelievably easy to hypnotized by the mohawked Bill Kaulitz and find yourself googling more interviews with the band.
As his unusually soft German accent draws you in, you notice his hair and make-up are flawless at all times and sadly he looks better in black skinnies than you ever will.
